Manage Users, but Hide Admin Role

In most of my applications, I have a set group of dedicated folks that can grant access when needed to various individuals.  I recently discovered by viewing another person's app that they had the manage users option available to everyone, but you could only change it to the role you were in or below (the Admin role was hidden).

I can't seem to figure out how to set this up and they don't remember how it was set that way.  I can allow folks to manage users, or not manage users,  I don't see a way to customize this.

Any tips?

This is manageable. In QuickBase, you can allow users to manage other users while automatically hiding the Administrator role from them. This is achieved by assigning the role "Manage users and share the app" (under Basic + Sharing permissions) instead of the full Administrator level.Users with this permission can access the Manage Users page, add/remove users, and assign roles — but they are restricted to assigning only roles at their own level or lower. The top-level Admin role remains hidden and can only be granted by true Administrators. This setup gives you controlled delegation of user management without risking full admin access being handed out. The configuration is done directly in the role’s Permissions settings and is a built-in QuickBase behavior for this specific permission level. How to Set It Up
    1. Go to your app → Users(sidebar) → Settings → Roles.

    2. Edit (or create) the role you want your dedicated team to have.

    3. On the Permissions tab, set the following:

    - Select Manage users and share the app (this is Basic + Sharing).

    - Do NOT select the full Admin or Admin, Sharing level.

    - Users in this role can access the Manage Users page.

    - They can add new users, remove users, and assign roles.

    - However, the Administrator role is automatically hidden from them. They can only assign roles at their level or below. They cannot grant Full Administration access to anyone.

  • Thank you for your response.  I just tried this.  I created a new role "test" and under the permissions, I only checked "manage users and share the app." Then I went under the test role and tried to manage users, it's still showing all roles created.

Are you an admin or superadmin? I believe the other folks are admins too so you should have a higher rank than them maybe.
