Need to adjust existing relationship in canned app - is this safe to do?

I am building an app based on Complete Sales Manager.  In the canned app, Lead Source and Campaign are related to Company. But in my world, I'd rather they related to Opportunity, since we track Lead Source by Opportunity, and one Company may have many Opportunities associated with it.

So my question is - if I just remove the existing relationships - for example the one between Lead Source and Company, and create a new relationship between Lead Source and Opportunity, is that bad?  Should I just add the new relationships and leave the old ones alone?

    If you have existing data that is utilizing the current set up..
    I'd leave the existing relationship, and create a new one to the opportunity.

    Then you can easily and appropriately connect the opps to the lead source.

    However, if this is a brand new app, and you are starting fresh, then you shouldn't have any issues by deleting the old relationship and building a new one.
