Note Fields

General preference on notes fields?  Multi line text with logging vs a related table?  I currently have notes attached to projects and opportunities as a multi line text field with logging on.  Works fine.  I have a few users that requested some features with quick add buttons on mobile etc. so if they get a phone call related to a project they can quickly log notes.  I think the best way to do that would be a formula api button going to create a new related record on a separate notes table.

Before I go through all of the trouble of updating just curious what people prefer for notes fields.  Related tables or a logging multi line text field (or rich text field of course)
