Possible to have an editable report link, and disable view/edit of the record?

I have a report link that is editable, that I want users to be able to edit using the editable report link on the parent, but then when viewing the report, not be able to edit or view the actual entry (ie, not click on the record). Is this possible?

All I could think of is making a form wit a text field that says something like 'Record Not Viewable in this Mode' and then override form settings by report.

Is there a better way?

    So, you'll need to create a standard Table Report on the child table and then on that report, disable the View and Edit options. Then, you would use that report as the display option for the Report Link field on the Parent.
