It basically fills in the "new customer" form in our app. Under form rules, I can't use "contain", it's either <,>, or =. Is there another place/method I could do this? Can I restrict the name from having that code?

Yes, if you go to the advanced settings of the table in QB... I'd imagine you have it named "Customers" or something to that effect. There's a section towards the bottom regarding Custom Data Rules.
https://help.quickbase.com/user-assistance/custom_data_rules.html is the QB Documentation regarding it.
I'm not sure if it'll work via API, or if it's strictly from a native QB form, but it's worth a shot.

If(
Contains([Customer Full Name], "http://"),
"Customer Names Cannot Contain Web Addresses.")
This way, you can look at first name and last name fields together. Might want to simply have http, to capture if it happens to be https:// as well.

here's what I tried:
If( [Customer Full Name] Contains([First Name],"http://") "Customer Names Cannot Contain web addresses.")
The "First Name" field is in there because it kept giving me an error without it, telling me it was expecting "text/textlist/userlist" but I have no idea what that is in this scenario. My "Customer Full Name" field is a formula field that combines the "last name" and "first name" fields.

that worked perfectly... I was totally over-thinking it.
thanks!

Hopefully this puts a stop to it! I'll let you know if it doesn't. Thanks to both Mark and Ryan for their help.
