You were really close. QuickBase evaluates the IF from the top to the bottom and stops calculating once it hits the first test which is true. So we just need to resequence your IF statement.
If([Date]<Today(), "Past",
[Date]<=Today()+Weeks(6),"Current",
[Date]>Today()+Weeks(6), "Future")
