Reports - Charts

I am wanting to have a report that shows two things: How many cases were opened per month for the year and How many cases were closed per month for the year. 

I currently have 2 reports showing each thing. I would like to have them all on one report.

    One way to do this is to use excel to load up a whole bunch of dates for the first of each month gong back say 3 years and forward for 20 years.

    Create a table called Monthly Cases and import those dates into a field and set that field to be the Key field of the table.

    Then make a relationship to the cases table and for the reference field on the right side, use a formula date field [date case opened mirror] with a formula of

    [date case opened]

    Then make a new relationship again 

    Then make a relationship to the cases table and for the reference field on the right side, use a formula date field [date case closed mirror] with a formula of

    [date case closed]

    The on both relationships make a summary of the #of cases.  Use those field on your report.
