Searching Reports?

I have a question and an odd issue about searching reports.

Question, if you enter a value in the search box, does it search the contents of logged multi-line text fields?  I have a user trying to find a record.  The record has several items in a logged multi-line text field, but the record is not showing up in the search.

Issue:  Another user reported problem searching in the New Beta style report.  If the entered the search value in the search box, she was getting this error
I got a blank screen when trying to search the same values.  If either of us used the filters and filtered on the column where the data was located we got the desired results.  What makes this even more confusing, If either of us went to the old style report and entered the same value in the search box we got the record we were trying to find.

  • The old and new Table reports are only supposed to filer on the fields which are are both on the report and flagged as being "Searchable" in their field properties.

    If the logged field is on the report and is not being searched, then check to ensure that box is checked. 

    For the error when using the new report style, I know that there was a bug that the system was searching every single field on the record as opposed to just searching fields which were on the report. But certainly cost performance problems which I know they are trying to avoid!   I don't know if they have that bug fixed yet but regardless as table reports are new they are of great focus to the support staff and if you can isolate a bug they will jump all over it. So please raise a Case  with the Care Team and they will have the engineers look at it.  

    Use the ? at the top right to create a case.

        I don't know what the search on the new report is doing, but whatever the bug is, still exists. It does not work for me. I also noticed that if you use a dynamic filter, I think it tries to 'dynamically filter, your other dynamic filters' if that makes sense - but it fails miserably, lol. Ill have to submit a case to customer care. Considering it is still buggy, I am surprised they are forcing the new reports on us.
