Select a specific number of records within a report or table.

I have a report with thousands of records, I can use a filter to reduce the number of records; however, I want to select an exact number of records within a report. For example, the filter reduces the number of records 200, but I want to select the first 50 records. Is there a way to select a specific number of records within a report or a table?

  • What do you mean select?   Is there a check box in the records?  If you put that field in the report, you can grid edit,  check the first one and copy down the next 49.

Does that answer or is your business case different?

I can add a check box, but what I am asking is there an easy way to determine when I've copied down to the 50th record. In Excel, if you select a series of cells it shows the count so you know you have 50. In QB, this there an easy way to know I have selected 50?

  • John,

Now I understand the question.   That is a very useful feature in Excel, to the best of my knowledge there is no native functionality that mirrors that.

You can build a formula query in the report that ranks the records.   QuickBaseJunkie has video on this

Instead of dollars, you will want to use the criteria from your report that filtered the records down to 200.
