TimeStamp Function

Question

I'm a little confused on what the time stamp function does? Is it simply to combine a date and time field? Is there a difference between a date/time field and a timestamp?

I am time stamping a signature and currently a date/time field is automatically filled in when they sign. Is there a way to use the timestamp function instead that is somehow beneficial?

There is no such thing as a timestamp field type.

There is a ToTimeStamp function which will calculate a result in Date/Time field type format.

So is ToTimeStamp simply to concatenate a date/time (if you have a separate date and time field?). Versus a date/time field where it starts as one field?
