ContributionsMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsEmployee Global AssignmentI have an Employees table and a Safety Topics table. I have them joined with a Safety Assignments table to achieve a many to many relationship. My overall goal is to have someone post a new safety topic with attachments in the Safety Topics table and have that create an assignment in the Safety Assignments table for every employee to review the safety topic with an automated email for the employee to "check off" whether they have completed it or not. The employees don't have access to this app - only their supervisors, which is why I want an automated email that the employee can click a link that will update their record without them actually going into the app. I think I know how to do the email for the most part, but I can't figure out how to auto-create an assignment for each employee record whenever a new safety topic is created. I want to be able to look at the safety topics table and know who hasn't reviewed the safety topic. Any suggestions on how to do this or even if there is a different way I can achieve the same effect - thanks. ------------------------------ Jordan McAlister ------------------------------ Re: Automation: Trigger on Summary Field ChangeI think your automation would be when a "Part" is edited (in this case, checked) AND "Parts Oustanding" = 0, THEN change the PO status. So, if you had 5 parts, the automation would run when the last part has been checked off as received because at that point the parts outstanding value would be zero by the time the automation ran. ------------------------------ Jordan McAlister ------------------------------ Re: Formula helpI would suggest using a summary field (combined text or something else in that category that fits your needs) or use an automation in the same way you do with the other information. I don't think you are going to be able to get data in the form of an API URL to show up in a field. If you wanted a non native way to shoot that info up to the parent you might need a code page or some AJAX call to initially grab that information. ------------------------------ Jordan McAlister ------------------------------ Pictures take forever to upload using QB on Mobile Is there any particular reason pictures take so long to upload using quickbase on a mobile device? We have recently moved to another file share program just for pictures because of how slow picture uploads are in QB. Even uploading a single 4MB photo into QB would take up to 5 minutes and sometimes would time out all together with decent service, but with this new file share, I can upload a 200MB video in about 3 minutes and if I have no service, I can upload at a later time without losing anything. I'm just trying to figure out if there is an inherent property of the file attachment field that restricts this kind of performance and if there is anything I can do about it. I would really like to just use Quick Base for this. #Mobile #Fileattachments ------------------------------ Jordan McAlister ------------------------------ Re: Button for "Approve All" recordsThe current solution I can think may involve a separate form with a blank text field and a button that checks a checkbox behind the scenes with an automation that runs off of that checkbox. Though this form is related to an individual record, you could make it accessible from any record or accessible from a dashboard that goes to any arbitrary record, but i believe you can make an automation affect multiple records from the change of a single record, so it wouldn't matter what record you did this in. I assume that the records on the report satisfy a specific criteria (Job Status or something similar). If the criteria never changes, then you won't need the blank text box, but if the criteria changes, you can have a blank text field to let the user input a status or whatever criteria parameter they need. Then, they could click a button that reverses a checkbox field (sets to true if false, or sets to false if true). The automation would then be set to run when the checkbox field changes and meets the criteria in the text box. Again, if the criteria doesn't change and maybe you only want to change records with a status of "Needs Approval", then the automation would just change all records that have the status "Needs Approval" if the checkbox field changes at all. ------------------------------ Jordan McAlister ------------------------------ Make Entire Form Edit OnlyI was trying to figure out how to make an entire only open up in edit mode. All information in this form is relayed back to the parent record with an embedded report for all records related to it, but if someone clicks on one of those records in the embedded report, it will only be to edit something. I want to skip the process of hitting edit every time because that is the only thing this report is used for. Side Note: I'm trying to accomplish this in Mobile. Thanks, #Form #reportsandcharts ------------------------------ Jordan McAlister ------------------------------ Re: Help with Record Title DisplayI think it might be going off of your key field which might be your Record ID# i assume, but unless you're willing to change your key field, i don't think you'll be able to fix that unless you do some iol code page to replace the text. You might be able to make a specific report that uses the name of the product as the filter and then make your own hyperlink field that links to the report instead of the auto made one that just links parent and child based on the referenced key field. ------------------------------ Jordan McAlister ------------------------------ Multiple Choice using Multiple Field Values of Parent TableIn the Parent Table, I have fields A, B, C, D, E, and F. In the Child Table, I want to have a multiple choice field that pulls the values from those fields, so it would read like this: Options - A - value B - value C - value D - value E - value F - value If more information is needed i can provide the specific use case, but it'll take time to explain. Basically, the user will make a child record at some point that will need to reference the data from those fields in order to fill out the form, so if he can just assign the information to a specific option then - perfect. #Formulasandfunctions #Forms #Tablesandfields ------------------------------ Jordan McAlister ------------------------------ Re: Minimum Due Date Based on End of Quarter DateYou can probably make [Quarter End Date] a field of its own maybe with: If( Today()<(ToDate("3/31/" & (Year(Today())))),ToDate("3/31/" & Year(Today())), Today()<(ToDate("6/30/" & (Year(Today())))),ToDate("6/30/" & Year(Today())), Today()<(ToDate("9/30/" & (Year(Today())))),ToDate("9/30/" & Year(Today())), Today()<(ToDate("12/31/" & (Year(Today())))),ToDate("12/31/" & Year(Today())) ) This also depends on if your quarter end dates are the same each year, but I noticed you used 7/31 as a quarter end date. i don't know if that was just for an example or if you use different days for that. There also might be an easier way to write that code above but that's what came to mind first. ------------------------------ Jordan McAlister ------------------------------ Re: Minimum Due Date Based on End of Quarter DateI think I get what you're saying - how do you guys update your quarter end date? is there a formula field that auto generates that date? ------------------------------ Jordan McAlister ------------------------------
