I now have a scenario where it'd be really useful to have a list of reports accessible via a dropdown menu on the homepage. Is this possible? I can't find a way to do it, so I'm guessing that if it is possible, it's going to be complicated - but asking here just in case there's a widget I'm somehow missing. I can achieve the same thing via a bunch of buttons (or a single button and getting my users to filter), but a dropdown would look 'tidier'. While on the topic of making reports accessible from an app's homepage - am I understanding correctly that if you use the Reports List widget, that widget will display ALL the reports in the selected table(s), or is there a way to limit the list to specific reports? Re: QB equivalent of VLOOKUP I finally got it to work! Thank you so much. Ridiculously simple once you figure it out. ------------------------------ Michelle L ------------------------------ Re: QB equivalent of VLOOKUP Hi! So I have the table relationship set up (one contact to many primary table records) and set the category field (in the category table) as the key field. That relationship field is showing up in my main table, but I'm at a loss as to how to get the contact field in the main table to pull the contact from the contacts table based on the corresponding category. I've tried and abandoned a whole lot of formulas and attempts to get the info using Pipelines, and am having no luck at all. I swear I've done this successfully in the past and it was simple. I'm definitely missing something obvious, but I've no idea what. ------------------------------ Michelle L ------------------------------ QB equivalent of VLOOKUP I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong here, as I know I've made it work before, in forms/tables that no longer exist, sadly. I have a table filled out via a form. The user will select a category from a dropdown menu. I have another field that I need to auto-populate with the current contact (who will be a quickbase user) for that category. I have another table that stores the categories and current contact. I set up the relationship, but all my attempts to get the contact field in the main table to look up the category, find it in the second table, and return the relevant contact have failed. Can someone point me in the direction of a simple explanation on how to do this? It'd be much appreciated. ------------------------------ Michelle L ------------------------------ Limited 'manage users'/'manage groups' permissions? I'm trying to find a way to allow certain users of my app to grant access to other users, but only by giving the new users access to a specific role. I manage user access via roles and groups, with roles being assigned to groups vs. individual users. So really what I want to do is allow certain users to add people to one specific user group (which will then give them the role assigned to that group). I thought I could do it by adding the group(s) containing the users I want to give these permissions to to the group I want them to be able to add people to, and setting them as 'manager only'. But while I can add one group to another, I don't see the option to set that group as member/manager/both. It looks like I can probably add all the users to the group individually (and then set them as 'manager only') but if there's a way to do it by group vs. individual user, that would be preferable (mostly so that I don't have multiple places I need to add/remove individual users from). Is there a way to do it that I'm just not seeing? Is there some entirely different way of doing it that I've missed? Thanks in advance! ------------------------------ Michelle L ------------------------------ Re: Assigning reference numbers to records That was my plan from the get-go, but someone asked if we can do it the other way, and I said I'd figure out how, not realizing that it would be far more complicated than I anticipated. But I've reverted to the original numbering convention now, after going down a rabbithole of similar threads yesterday! ------------------------------ Michelle L ------------------------------ Assigning reference numbers to records Can someone help walk me through how to do the following? I'm setting up a database that will be filled out via a form completed by users. They'll have to select a category from a dropdown in a certain field (let's call it 'category') - I want to be able to automatically assign a reference number to each record using the following format: C-AAA-XXX The "C" will appear at the start of every reference number. The "AAA" will be a three-letter abbreviation related to the category selected in the Category field. I've already made a field ("Abbreviation") that auto-populates with the abbreviation based on the selection in the Category field. The "XXX" should be a three-digit number, starting with 001 for the first record created per Category. So for each category, there will be a -001, -002, etc. I've tried everything I can think of, and am failing miserably. It's the 'unique number' part that's tripping me up, obviously. Finally occurred to me that someone here can probably tell me how to do it in 30 seconds. So... help? ------------------------------ Michelle L ------------------------------ Re: "Error - Group Not Found" Hi! Yup, it's under the 'Users' tab; both the 'Manage Groups' button (upper right of the Users screen) and the 'Group' tab under 'Access via' (menu at the left of the screen) display all my group names as normal, but for 7 out of 12 groups, if I click the hyperlink to view the group properties, available actions, etc. I just get the QuickBase error "Error - Group Not Found" (screenshot below). I followed your suggestion and entered a Support ticket on Thursday. Per the updated response I just got, it sounds like this is an existing bug that's currently being worked on. ------------------------------ Michelle L ------------------------------ "Error - Group Not Found" I manage all my users via several groups, each of which is assigned a particular user role. Today I went to the 'manage groups' screen and clicked on a group to view its members, and was met with the message 'Error - Group not Found'. The same thing is happening for several other groups, but not all of them. However, the groups all still appear to exist, as my users are all still able to access my app and perform the tasks etc. which are assigned to them via the group they belong to. Email notifications which are sent to these groups are still being sent. I've logged out and logged back in, tried different browsers, cleared my cache - but the error message is still stubbornly showing up. Any ideas what to do about this? ------------------------------ Michelle L ------------------------------ Re: Link records in both directions (automatically) within same table? Thank you for responding so quickly! I just tried to set that up, and am presumably doing something wrong, because (using the example above) it embeds a table which shows record 150 on record 200, but the embedded table on record 150 is empty. ------------------------------ Michelle L ------------------------------
