Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) has long been one of the most powerful—and most complex—topics in Quickbase. Over the years, we’ve talked about ALM in many places: Empower sessions, webinars, blog posts, and deep technical discussions. We’ve built advanced tools like solution APIs and QBL that give teams incredible control over change management. But through all of that work, one goal stayed constant: Make ALM simple, approachable, and usable for every Quickbase builder—not just developers. Built for Builders, Not Just Engineers Not everyone using Quickbase comes from a software development background. Many builders just want a safe, reliable way to improve their solutions without risking what’s already in production. That’s why, in 2025, we began building a native ALM experience directly into the Quickbase platform, designed to support a simple but powerful idea: Separate building from using. With the new ALM capabilities, you can now easily create Dev + Test + Prod environment
Coming to everyone on 24th February Don't want to read? - Watch the video instead: Over the past few months, I’ve been sharing how AI Actions can be used inside Pipelines to extract insights from emailsanalyze complex documents like 10-K filingsand even generate weekly report summaries automatically The feedback has been great. You love the flexibility and power. But it's also been very clear where things could be better. Questions like: How do I construct the desired output? What is "JSON schema"? How do I give the AI all the context without stitching together dozens of fields? Can I pass images, not just documents and spreadsheets? The release on the 24th will be about answering those questions. With three major improvements, AI Actions becomes easier to use, more context-aware, and far more versatile — without changing the core idea: one simple step that lets AI reason over your pipeline data directly inside your workflows. This release introduces: A Structured AI Outpu

At a glance: After February 10th, Pipelines will handle errors in loops more consistently:If a step fails during one loop iteration—even when that iteration includes an IF/ELSE branch—the pipeline will skip only that iteration and continue to the next. The full pipeline will only stop if you explicitly use a STOP step. Why we’re making this change In Pipelines, errors typically stop a pipeline run. That’s a safe default: if something unexpected happens, the pipeline pauses, allowing you to review and fix the issue. Loops are the notable exception. In many real-world automations, it’s better to keep going even if one item fails—especially when processing a list of records (like invoices or purchase orders). Today, loops already behave that way: If one loop iteration fails, Pipelines usually skips that record and continues with the next one. But we found an inconsistency: If an iteration includes conditional branching (IF/ELSE) and the logic step fails along that path, the entire pi

Intro: Hi! I’m Kojo Acquaah (he/him), Co-Founder of Levery. I’m originally from the Boston area, but have been living in Dallas, TX for the past 2 years. I’ve been using Quickbase since 2021. Quickbase Beginnings: How did you first discover Quickbase?I stumbled upon Quickbase when I was asked to cover for a colleague going on leave. What was the first thing you ever built in Quickbase?I was tasked with digitizing our Integrated Lean Six Sigma program we were using to assess and score warehouse, delivery, and management processes. Translating that complex methodology into a single, auditable Quickbase solution that helped to eliminate waste and enable continuous improvement was a turning point. It showed me how the platform could convert scattered chaos into an operational orchestra. When did you realize you were hooked on Quickbase?I knew I was hooked when I started pulling fragmented processes housed in spreadsheets, SharePoint docs, and other systems into Quickbase and began relating
Hey Qrew! Osa here from Customer Education. We're trying something new: QBU Office Hours Live, 1-hour sessions where you can bring questions and work through course-related stuff directly with our team. Think of it like dropping by during office hours in college, except way less intimidating and with better tech. These sessions are built to support what you're learning in QBU courses, like "help me understand why this works" or "I'm stuck on this concept from the lesson." Quick note: Office Hours are focused on course content only. For app-specific troubleshooting or technical issues, your usual Support/CX team is still your best bet. Upcoming sessions January 15, 12–1 PM ET — Customer Education Q&ACome to Customer Education Office hours to get answers and help building a personalized learning path of courses that will accelerate your building. Intro I’m Kevin Montgomery (he/him), Marketing Operations Developer from the AIR MILES Reward Program in Toronto, Canada. Primarily, I’m responsible for maintaining our Quickbase realm and developing apps to help streamline and scale up our processes. Quickbase Beginnings I have been using Quickbase since October 2018. First, as a participant in a time-tracking app. Then, in January 2022, I accepted a new position to help manage and develop the functionality of our marketing execution app, which has since grown into developing several apps for our marketing and finance departments. On a personal level, I also use my Quickbase builder account to prototype weird and wonderful models, including weight management, gas price trends, and electoral reform. I think I realized I was hooked on Quickbase when I found myself jumping to my builder account to prototype an idea rather than firing up a spreadsheet or a local XAMPP server instance. Starting in March, we’re updating when we roll out our monthly major release. Instead of releasing on Sunday morning, we’ll now deploy our major release at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, usually on the second Wednesday of each month. This new window falls during a period of low platform usage, which helps us minimize risk while continuing to deliver new capabilities and improvements. Important - nothing else about our release process or the customer experience is changing. As you might have noticed, there were a bunch of small things we’ve added in Pipelines over the last year. We tried something simple: one day every month dedicated purely to improving usability. No splashy launches - just a steady drumbeat of small, high-impact fixes and polish that make building and maintaining Pipelines faster and clearer. What is “Delightful Pipelines Day”? Once a month, one of our our Pipelines teams pauses roadmap work to ship bitesize improvements aimed at removing friction: clearer labels and messages, better navigation, smarter defaults, and friendlier states. Many of these come straight from your comments and feedback in various channels. The rule is that it should be no more than a day's work. In just a year we’ve delivered over 50 separate improvements. Below are the top improvements we shipped this past year - each one small on its own, but together they add up to a meaningf

1999 felt like an exciting time. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time swept the Game of the Year awards. Everyone was Livin La Vida Loca. It’s also when Quickbase first hit the scene. A lot has changed since then, especially when it comes to technology. Over time, we’ve improved and reimagined the visual look and feel of the Quickbase platform. Starting on December 14th, you’ll notice that we’ve updated the Quickbase interface once more. All of the same functionality and layout is staying the same, but with a fresh coat of paint. What’s NewThese visual updates include new colors, fonts, and icons across various pages. This new look should feel familiar, since we have focused on making our app builder pages more consistent with the rest of the product. We’re talking about blue buttons, softer colors, and a more sleek and elegant appearance overall. For example, here is your new login page: Here you can see the new settings icons and table headers: And here is our new dialogue for sha

Intro Hello, Everyone. This is Tony Gonzalez, the Director of Information Technology here in the City of New Braunfels. Shortly after we stepped into the Quickbase realm, I told our City Manager I would gladly trade him a Director for a dedicated Developer position. Quickbase quickly became that much work, but it has truly made a difference here in the City and I am thankful for what it has done and will continue to do. We have built a lot of momentum in this first year and there is still a lot out there for us to improve upon. In terms of the Realm, we are still in the Shire and there is an entire world out there waiting to realize the benefits of Quickbase. The Qrew has been the equivalent of a Fellowship for me. We aren’t marching towards Mordor, but rather towards the mythic Forest of Great Efficiency that even the eternal Elvers would envy. (How is that for nerdy?) Quickbase Beginnings How did you first discover Quickbase? I attende
