EOTI (Everyone On The Internet) URL Link opens to a Grid Edit Form of specific records.

The EOTI link is sent via email works by having an (8) digit pin appended to the URL link.
The (8) digit pin will identify which records are to be displayed in Grid Edit form.

After clicking the link in the email, all Grid Edit functions work fine as well as the "Apply Changes", "Save".
When the "Cancel" button is clicked then the EOTI user is redirected back to a form that has a dropdown list of all the other "pins".

They could start "browsing" all the other entries from the other customers.

I've blocked out all reports to the EOTI group.

First question, is there a better way to link the required records to be edited other than with a passed parameter such as shown below?
https://company.quickbase.com/db/dbid?a=q&qid=21&nv=1&v0=21E402347.

I read some other EOTI questions but they seemed related to adding/editing records then redirecting to a blank (or "Thank You") page after clicking Save.

Thank you all for any help on this & especially for those who've been tremendous help on my earlier issues.

  • If the nature of your application is that the grid edit is the only data entry method, then you can set the EOTI form to just have the thank you words on them and no actual fields. That way if user start to browse other records they will not see any data just a blank form.

There will be some data pre-populated so that the customer can make decisions as to which records they will want to have their information recorded.

The reason for the Grid Edit is because there can be potentially 5 to 360 (or more) records for each customer to input their data.
These same records are sent out to multiple customers. The records are duplicated for each customer so they only see their data. The PIN is intended to allow the customer to only see their records.

Many of the fields will be copied & Fill Down from the original while a few others will not.

The customer will be able to edit each individual record if desired.

        Post Note:
Was able to resolve this by setting up a Report Link. Thanks to Stuart Gardner QuickBase Support Tech.
This allowed the Grid Edit to be used & didn't allow the "Cancel" button to drop the customer back to the form that had the dropdowns where they could click & potentially see other customers data.
