But from which record are you wanting to pull the data?

Not exactly sure how to answer that. Here is a screenshot of some data from Table 1.

Can you give a very specific answer for the first row of data in table 2 what the right answer is to that first cell for Total FD calls and explain why it is the right answer?

I think so.
Total FD Calls in table 2, first record, should be 1,073. That is the total of the Fire and EMS calls for Nov 2023. It really could be in any of the 17 entries on table 2 that are dated in November. I just need to be able to calculate the total number of ESD 7 calls, regardless of Incident Type, by Total FD Calls.

Wait, maybe I can just do this with a QB action. When a new entry is made in table 1, just copy that record to table 2. Only copy date and Total calls fields.

I'm not really sure if your action method will work but they are telling us not to use actions anymore, so it would need to be a Pipeline. But a better solution is probably using a Formula Query. That is a whole world onto itself.
Sharon Faust, a.k.a. The Quickbase Junkie has a of of good training material. quickbasejunkie.com.
Truthfully you should try to find budget to just buy her Mega Bundle and have access to all of her training materials, both free and paid.
I assume that Quickbase University also has training materials too. Or some of us on this Forum offer one on one assistance. Or we plod though building a formula query on this thread here.

The QB action worked, but its fairly unwieldy and I see issues with it. i.e. If someone incorrectly enters a number and goes back to edit. the edit wouldn't be reflected in table 2. So, I guess I will try my hand at a Formula Query.
However, I do have one more thing in mind that might make this even simpler. in table 1, I have two types of calls, EMS calls and Fire calls. I could add ESD 7 as a type of call and maybe that would solve my problems.
Let me try that and get back to you.
