Smart Phone Report - User Interface

The top of the smart phone display provides a total of records (in this example "21 Hours").
That is actually a count of records, and NOT a total of hours.

What am I doing wrong?  Can I display daily subtotals?  I'd even just settle for a weekly total of hours. I am not having any trouble on my desktop version.

Help please?  This is pretty important to my in-field users.

Thank you,

Dirk
  • Hi Dirk,

It is correct that the 21 Hours displaying at the top of this screen is referencing the number of Hour records you have in this report. It is pulling that name form the name for individual records in your table, which in this instance is a bit confusing. Are you getting the sub totals in your reports on desktop by using Sorting and Grouping to get subtotals to display directly on the report? If so I can confirm that currently those totals based off of sorting and grouping do not display in the same way on your table reports on mobile. Instead to get a report with that information I would suggest building a summary report using the same grouping you are using in your table report and set up to summarize the fields you are using to track hours and then you can set that value to group by week or employee, etc depending on your criteria. It will currently pull them into the full screen version of the site but it will deliver a summary report that pulls those Totals.

If being able to see those Total and Subtotal values directly on your table reports in mobile would be helpful for your users I would suggest submitting that feedback to our User Voice request to help highlight its importance to your use of Quick Base. User Voice is a tool our Product Development team use to track feedback from our users on desired features or enhancements. The Quick Base User voice can most easily be accessed from the My Apps page in Quick Base by clicking on the orange Feedback tab that appears on the right of the page or at http://quickbase.uservoice.com by signing in with your Quick Base credentials. If you do submit this feedback if you include a link to it in a response here in the community it can also help other builders with the same need to find it and add their vote as our mobile team continues to look at ways to enhance our mobile experience. I hope this information is helpful Dirk and thank you for your time today.
  • Hi Evan:

Here is the summary report on my desk top.  I just want to eliminate the count/sub total of records and display a summary of daily hours (worked on various projects).

I'm just a novice swimming way over my depth.  But any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Dirk,

In this report it looks like it is a summary table that was set up to display via a table report. If you customize this report is it of the Table report type and has the settings turned on in the report for:

Show summary table based on the grouped columns
Hide main table and show only summary table

This is creating an on the fly summary report based on the Table reports data and gives you a little less control. If you want more control on a report you would want to create a new report that is specifically of the Summary Report type. That way you can then control what fields get summarized and how, and you could chose to only summarize number of hours and not # of records. You could also then say you want to display the values grouped by day and grouped by Project Name for example if you wanted. You would just want to start with a Summary type report. I hope that information is helpful Dirk as you continue to build more in Quick Base.
  • Evan:

Thank you, I did get the Summary Report to work.  But, I did receive an error message on smart phone: "Sorry! This type of report is not yet supported in the mobile web version."

Is there anything I can do to display this information on the mobile web version?

Thank you so much for your kindly assistance.

  • Hi Dirk,

I did a little digging to be sure with the mobile app but unfortunately right now this type of report doesn't display right in the mobile app. In order to view it that would pull the user into the browser to see the full report of the summary report. It does break them out of the mobile app currently to view the report.
  • Hi Evan:

Thank you for checking.  We are exploring tablets anyways.  At least I won't fry my little gray cells any longer on this issue.

    Regards,

    Dirk
