Is it possible to import a blank MS Access database to QuickBase then create the front end in it?

I have a lot of experience with this, having converted a fairly complex custom app I wrote in MS Access for our small business over a 14 year period, into QuickBase in 2015. It took me over 6 months to do it, and I could have done it in less than half that time, but it was worth the extra time to do it right. In the process, I didn't just convert my data onto the new platform. I systematically reviewed all of the functionality within our platform, completely redesigned the centerpiece app (the project and task management system), and optimized it from a QuickBase way of thinking, which is different in many subtle ways from an MS Access way of looking at the world and implementing an application. To say that I am pleased with the final results is a total understatement. I now have a stable and efficient platform in QB that just works the way people want it to. Unstead of me constantly slaving over an app that I worked for, I now have an app that works for me every day.

So, I would say it is well worth it to consider approaching your conversion project from this standpoint. The key to getting the most out of QB is to understand how relationships, lookup fields and formula fields work, because you will be creating and using a lot of these. Understand your business logic well and understand how to best represent that business logic within QB's normal framework. Work with a good QB partner from the start (I worked with Josh Shortlidge at Data Collaborative). He helped me over the phone over the course of several months to learn very quickly the QB paradigm and way of thinking, and that up-front training time I received saved me tons of time and mistakes down the road of a very long and arduous project.

Good luck with your project.
