I am looking for a way to have a warning window pop up notifying the user that they are trying to change the status of a project to completed when there are still open issues. I have a project with a task table and an issues table. When the last task is completed, the user manually changes the status on the project to completed. I want them to see a warning window if there are open issues still unresolved. Any way to do this?

You can do this by triggering a form rule from a summary field - # of Open Issues.

Say you have the following:

Projects - with [Project Status] "In Progress" or "Completed"

Issues - with [Issue Status] "Open" or "Closed"

Relationship: 1 Project has many Issues

Create a summary field: "# of Open Issues" - which is the Count of Issues where "Issue Status" is equal to the value "Open".

Then - in the Project form - create the following form rule:

When [Project Status] is equal to "Completed" and

all of the following conditions are true:

"# of Open Issues" is not equal to 0

Display a message "There are still open issues unresolved".

change [Project Status] to "In Progress".

This way - it will show the warning message, and stop the user from changing [Project Status] to "Completed" when there are still open Issues. You can adjust this as needed if you still want to allow them to turn it to "Completed", etc.
