Are reports in subscription emails constrained by the users role?

Apparently I don't use subscription email notifications much. QB help doesn't tell me, but does the report the user sees is constrained by the role permissions? I think this is true, but as an admin, my copy I see everything. I want to send a daily email to salespeople, but want them to only see their stuff, like if they accessed that report directly in QB. Seems like a silly question, but I couldn't find the answer.

  • Yes, Quick Base sends the report to the user as they would see it if they viewed the report through the UI.

Thanks for the confirmation Justin. I'm turning on my new notification today.

Well, come to find out that on the table I am doing this on, the role restriction of user field = current user is not constraining access, thus why I was confused about the subscription results. So, more importantly now, why is the constraint not working here. That seems very odd.

What exactly is happening? Are they just seeing every possible record?

The report should behave exactly as it does in QuickBase. If the report is set up to show only the current users records then when it emails them it should go off of that specific person.

See note below, blowing out role restrictions with EOTI role so customers can see their data, too.

Typing is therapeutic ... I realize now I also have 'everyone on the internet' role so customers can see there stuff (in another table), that is supplanting my restrictions. Dang it.
