keyboard shortcuts?

I'm not sure if I should post this as a comment or an answer. Its a partial answer.
If you are editing many records Grid Edit is your best friend, so post back if you are not fully exploiting that feature and need help.

In Grid Edit there are also Keyboard Shortcuts as described in the Help text.

Are you editing field characteristics from the Field List or fields in records?

If Field Characteristics - filter your field list and then use the right-mouse to open the field in a new window so that you are making the changes and leaving your "list" in a static window.
If Records - create a custom report showing only the fields you need to edit and then use Grid Edit. If Search & Replace works - you could use that with the right filtering.
Finally, if Records - export a report of fields to excel with your Key Field (usually Record ID#) out and then make the updates in Excel and import the data back into the table.

My goal was not exactly to edit multiple records at once (through Grid Edit or export to Excel). But rather to edit fields from the field list.

What I'm actually doing is to open a lot of field property tabs, modify them 1 by 1, save them individually, close the tab. I wish I could right-click them directly from the list, but Firefox does not seem to support this feature well (opens two context menus!), I use <Ctrl> + left click to open in new tabs instead.

So my problem still lies in a few words: is there any shortcut to save the field properties in a field setting window? Meaning, I do not want to waste time clicking the green "Save" button :)

I have no problem in firefox right-clicking on the Field Name to open it up in a new window - which preserves my customized Field List.  Are you using the new UX or old UX?  In the new UX, the SAVE button is easily located at the top of the screen all the time.... but to answer your last para/question... I do not believe so.

i guess that's the new. But the whole point of a keyboard shortcut is to gain time, by not having to hover the mouse and keep your hands over the keyboard all the time you know ;)
For the right-click issue, I guess that comes from my end then!
Yet I used no extensions in the browser..but my work policy does not allow me to update the browser, so...i'm stick to firefox version 13!

Ctrl+S works to save a record.

Alt+S will save the record you are editing and Alt+7 will save and add another. You can look at the source or use this jQuery discovery method to log the results to the console

Oh my god, I thought I tried Ctrl+S long before asking the question here! Sorry for that, that solved the problem :)Many thanks to dandiebolt too for the tip on how to create save buttons!

:) I just saw a coworker use the ctrl+s thing, and was blown away--so i came to quickbase help to see what other shortcuts were available, and only found you looking for the one thing i knew. i wish they had more resources available. good luck!
