Hello!
I don't know what records (record key) I will be updating. I may have records on my SQL table that have been updated, or none may have been updated. My expectation was that all records would be send to QB and it would only update those that had changed fields. If I have to supply a record key and this is eventually going to be an automated process, this may not work for me.
Your thoughts?

Barb,
When we submit data to QB that needs to be updated, the first thing we do is identify the table where the records exist. Then we organize the data using JavaScript, which is an array of objects that always consist of at least two Field IDs, the data and each record's key.
I can't speak with much authority on SQL servers and QB, but the program we built uses a drag and drop interface for updating record data.
I've found the QuickBase customer support to be exceptionally helpful in figuring out solutions to problems such as these. Have you considered opening a support ticket and asking these questions to QB directly?
Please let me know if there is any more information I can share concerning my experiences with updating records in QuickBase.
Best regards,
