Gmail Connected Table MessageID field doesn't work for automation

I have a Gmail connected table set up, and I'm using the unique Message ID field as the primary key. I'm also working with a developer partner to do some scripting with this table, and the back end of a transaction is to use the Message ID field to go back into the Gmail Inbox and archive or move (label with a folder and then archive) the email message according to our business logic.

My developer is telling me that the Message ID field is not helpful and does not correspond with the "real" Gmail Message ID that's needed to automate it. So, my first question is: why would QuickBase make that field available as a choice for the connected table fields to bring into QB if it's not helpful in identifying and accessing the original email record that created the connected table record? It is unique, so that's somewhat helpful, but apparently my developer can't use it for anything.

Has anyone else worked with automating Gmail from a connected table using the Message ID?
