Currently, I'm only using one form for all of my tasks. What I'd like to do is create a second form with different fields and assign that form to a certain group of tasks. Is this possible and if so, how?

If you are driving users to your forms from a URL button on a dashboard this is certainly possible, as you can specify which form is loaded as part of the URL. This is the section in the url which defines which form is opened &dfid=2 which says open form 2. You can find the dfid value for a form in the form section in settings.

If you are wanting them to select a task type and then load the form you could actually use form rules to hide form sections and still use the same form or there maybe javascript alternatives that others in the community can help your with.

If you could please add some further details on your preferred method myself or one of the community can respond with a full answer.

As a second opinion, I caution you against creating a second form. The problem arises after the user save the record it will then be redisplayed back to the user on the default form, not the firm they did their data entry on.

I would recommend that you use form rules to show and hide sections of the form basked on the Task Type. You will need to have a common section for data entry fields that are repeated but in the end it will save you a lot of hassle if you can keep yourself down to one form.
