The records in the leads table is a list of current clients and services purchased. The records in the cancellation table show everyone who has cancelled services with us. We have a report to show outstanding services and we need to add the cancellation date to the parent table. I have tried to do a many to many relationship, but I am not sure if this is the best option. I also thought about adding a button on the child table to update the field in the parent table but I keep getting a missing rid parameter error code 30 from my formula URL. I am not sure what to do next

A many to many is not recommended as you would have to manually assign the separate leads to each cancellation and that gets nasty.

A reverse relationship would work if you needed to bring some text field up to the parent, but is looks like you want a date field.  The would still only bring one date field back up anyway.

Date fields are best brought back to the parent via a summary field.
You can bring a few variations of summarized dates.

You can bring the earliest cancelation date (minimum), or the latests (maximum), or a variation of those to find say, the earliest or latest cancellation date in the last 'x' number of days.

If you are still stuck, let us know.
