Data upload issue

We have used Google drive to update our employee table for a couple of years. Linked to the employee table is our trucks table. Employees that drive company trucks are assigned to that truck via the employee table using a look up field. This morning, I was contacted about some strange looking reports that were sent. After investigating, I found the employee look up field in the trucks table were almost all empty. Several fields in the employee table, check boxes designating certain requirements, were also empty. If I edit a truck, as you will see in pic 1, I get "unknown employee (number)" in the assigned employee field but if I click the drop down, there is the same number and the employee name. (Pic 2) My question is why did this happen out of no where? Why isn't Quickbase able to correlate those numbers?

  • Hi Steve,

Taking a look at those screen shots it looks like the reference field is looking for employee 55670 but they are listed as 055670 under your reference field. The lack of the 0 is most likely what is causing that reference field to not line up, reference fields are specific and a missing character would do that. When syncing over how is that reference field being populated? Is it via an Automation or some sort based on the data being imported in? If you look at the source is that 0 missing from the record being brought in?

I looked back and as I suspected, none of the previous uploads included the zero. The information is dropped into Google drive as a .csv and the table refreshed. I just opened the latest .csv and found it does have the zero where the previously ones did not. It seems that zero may have not been there before but I can't say for sure since I have no old data to view. I'll work around this and keep my fingers crossed it doesn't happen again.
