Hi all,

I have an issue logging and development planning app. Our business process is that when a user resolves an issue it might get moved into planned releases.

I would like to be able to open an "add to planned releases" form after a user saves an "issue resolution" form with certain criteria.

I've not been using Quickbase for long, but I can see the following potential solutions, I'd appreciate comments on the feasibility of these or if there are other options.

1. Add a condition to the form upon save to fire a formula url / button press equivalent.
2. Amend the behaviour of the save button for this one form.
3. Create a button that saves the information on the form before opening the new form.

Many thanks and kind regards

Yes it is possible but you have to use script. Visit this application and edit the record:

Form Redirector

The edit form that shows up will present the fields [Name] followed by [Number]. If you save the record it will next present a second form editing the same record but this time with the fields reversed. The key to making this work is to set the hidden form field RedirectURL to the URL you want to redirect to AND clear the rl (rid list) field. This is not the Save & Do technique as in this situation we are editing a record and we already know the record ID whereas with the Save & Do technique you don't already know the record ID of a newly created record and have to take another approach.

This is a hack / workaround but it works. Workflow modeling can radically increase your productivity but in the current state of QuickBase you have to use script to effectuate a solution. This isn't a final solution as you probably would have to configure a few other things for a production solution. Contact me using the information in my profile if you are interested in such a solution. My prediction: workflow modeling will be the next big innovation with using QuickBase.
