Solved

So, for years now this is one feature that has always eluded me due to the fact that I've never been able to get it to work. How does one nest multiple API calls in a single button?  I've read the old article that talks about "rdr" and such, but the example only shows a single API call which doesn't help.  Right now I need this single button to ADD a new record in a specific table, which it does, but then EDIT the parent and then RETURN to the parent in edit mode.  This is what I have currently:var text URLTwo =                    URLRoot() & "db/" & [_DBID_TABLENAME] & "?a=API_EditRecord=" & "&apptoken=APPTROKEN"                        & (If([THING1]=false, "&_fid_312=false" & "&_fid_304=false",""))                        & (If([THING2]=false, "&_fid_36=false"

I am entering a default value, but the sample data is not reporting and when viewing outside of Field Properties, shows blank. I have this function working on two other similar fields, but this one refuses to update. If I can provide any more information, please let me know.

I would like to create a URL formula button -- that when clicked it will run a table to table import --- this is what I have created (did not work) var text URLONE = URLRoot() & "db/" & [Table ID] & "?act=API_RunImport&ID="&[TableImportID]&"";  $URLONE

Hey there!I am almost certain this has been asked before, but I have been searching for hours and can't find anything.I am building an app that tracks flight delays and auto assigns a manager for follow up based on the departure airport. For example, I need the formula to populate Manager A if Departure Station is JFK, LGA, EWR, BWI, DCA, or IAD or to populate Manager B if Departure Station is DTW, ORD, MDW, MKE, or MSN. And down the line for all of our airports and managers.I have something that is working during testing, in a formula-user field so it can be the basis of email notifications when they have been assigned a new delay. But we have hundreds of airports, so there has to be an easier way than a line item for each individual airport. If([Departure Station]="JFK", ToUser("ManagerA@Company.com"), [Departure Station]="LGA", ToUser("ManagerA@Company.com"), [Departure Station]="DTW", ToUser("ManagerB@Company.com"),[Departure Station]="ORD", ToUser("ManagerB@Company.com"))

Hi,I'm trying to create a text formula field that would compare 2 text lookup fields for an employee name. So if there isn't a value in field A, it will pull a value from field B or vice versa. For reference, these 2 fields have a relationship between tables, and in some instance the name is populated in one table and not the other. Field A: Field B: If anyone has suggestions, please advise as I've tried several different formula functions and can't get this to work as I expect.Thanks,-Scott

I have an invoice line item table with a non-key field Invoice #.  Some lines have the same invoice number.  These lines with the same invoice number are usually entered by the user at the same time (because there's more than one line per invoice).I want to use a pipeline to create an invoice header from the lines.  I have a table with a custom key that is that invoice #.  Of course it needs to be unique.  I know that if I use upsert I can insert new invoice headers and update existing ones.  Right now I have my filter set to pull all invoice lines added in the last few minutes.  But some in that set will have duplicate invoice numbers, and the upsert does not allow this within the same commit - it errors out on the duplicate key.Is there a way to commit one record at a time with upsert?  Or should I be doing this a different way?

From the parent table (FWA Investigations) a task record (child table: Tasks) can be added and displays in the parent table. I want to create a report that will show me when there aren't any task records that have been created under the parent table.

Hi All,I am having troubles trying to via a button to add a new record then refresh the current record. As a button can't trigger a Pipeline, I've created a checkbox field to act as a trigger field. Currently the button uses an API_EditRecord to edit the checkbox and refresh the record. The API_EditRecord triggers my pipeline however the refresh happens before the Pipeline has a chance to complete.I saw this thread where we can create a HTML Code page to do a pause and refresh.https://community.quickbase.com/discussions/quickbase-discussions/save-new-record-pause-refresh/19873/replies/19876I thought I might be able to tag that to the end of my current URL code to run afterwards, however it seems with the record refresh, it never gets to this part.My current code is as follows.URLRoot() & "db/" & Dbid() & "?act=API_EditRecord&rid=" & [Record ID#] & "&_fid_371=1" & "&apptoken=xxxxxxx" & "&rdr=" & URLEncode( URLRoot() & "db/" & Dbid()

I have two tables -- Parent Table A and Child Table B.When importing records into Child Table B --- if there is not a Parent Table A "related record" -- I would like to create a new "Related Record" for Parent Table A --- Note: there may be multiple child records that have the same ParentID that need a "new" related parent record --- I'm not sure I would go about creating a Unique List of Parent records that need to be created. - appreciate any help.

New learner here. I'm trying to copy a ticket record and open new copy in edit mode. After I copy, I need the original record I copied from to automatically mark the <Status Field> (which is a text-multiple choice field) to "Expired" and the new ticket record <Status Field> to "Current".  I'm not sure the best way to do this, or if there may be a more efficient way not using the <Status Field>.

We have two quickbase apps.  Lets say app 1 and app 2.  In app 2, i have pulled in  table1 from app 1 and added two new fields.  I now need to send those two new fields back to app 1.  I would assume that it would be a relationship from app 1 table 1 to app 2 table 2 but how do I make the connection on record id #.  On app 2 I pulled in the record id from app 1 but not sure how to make that connection back on the record #. Thanks,

I have looked at several of the answers to this question but I am having some difficulty creating the snapshot field.

Hi, - So I have a notification that goes out with a lot of information in it, and one of the items on the record is a PDF of some scanned documents.  When my users receive the notification, if they click the PDF it attempts to take them to the record, but if they aren't logged in already, they get a "page does not exist" error.  If they are logged into Quickbase in their browser it successfully launches the PDF.  Is there an easy way to "force" the login, or should I just email them via a pipeline instead?  I don't want to open up the record or PDF to anyone without a login.  Thanks in advance.

Hi All,I have a phone number type field that you have to manually enter an individual's phone number w/ hyphens. Is there a way to use a formula phone number field to auto add the hyphens when a number is keyed into that field (and possibly add parentheses around the area code)? I haven't found anything yet that works. Thanks in advance!-Scott

looking to create a formula or rule to do the followinginterior Date Field to not allow changes if interior status is confirmed and less then 2 weeks from current week.

I have created a form rule that says when Field A (field A is a formula checkbox field) is TRUE, then change Field B (checkbox) to TRUE when the record is saved --- ELSE if Field A is FALSE change Field B to FALSE. It seems simple but I'm not able to get this to update/fire correctly

I have a QuickBase and I have three tables involved. DSOTINSContactsThe Tins and the contacts table are related to the DSO table using the Field DSO name. What I need to do is pull in some contact fields into  the Tins table. How would I set up the relationship in order to do this?   Thanks.

I am a newer user to QuickBase and am learning how to use the formula fields. What are some of the best practices to learning how to use formulas at a mid - high level?

I copied over a database to start a new one.I see that there are about 7 embedded reports on one of my tables. It has the usage from the "old" database. Is there a way to tell where this report is being used and if it's important - like is it truly embedded in one of my table. I am worried about deleting it and it making a mess of one of my tables

Sometimes, I just can't get the hang of formulas! Please help...thank youCase(DayOfWeek([FINAL PROJECTED START DATE]),0,"SUN",1,"MON",2,"TUE",3,"WED",4,"THU",5,"FRI",6,"SAT","OPEN") Error:

I have a formula that reads It reads[closing costs] - 400/2  Closing costs -(minus) 400/ (divided)2Example: Closing costs 1950.00 -400= 1550/ 2 = 775 But I am getting the wrong calculation - it is coming out at 1750.00

I have a drop down field used in a parent table. The list is coming from another table (child)- it's one field that is a text field that has names in it. in the old forms, there was something saying let users add choices - I have user input but those from list wants me to add stuff into drop down and from another field doesn't make sense- The reason i made a a table for these choices is so I could go in and change them with end dates and start datesThe field says Input typeUser inputFrom listFrom another field I am using the glitchy new forms. horrible upgrade in my opinion I have had nothing but trouble since building it.

Hi,Is there a way I can add child record(s) when adding a parent record through a single form? I am trying to collect general info in the parent form and then have the ability to click a button to add a selected data source into the child table. Once that data source is added, it should automatically redirect me back to the parent form in edit mode as I left it and I should be able to add as many data sources as I want. I tried using a formula button which I found in the exchange, however, it only works as intended when editing a parent record. It doesn't work when adding a parent record because the record ID hasn't been created yet so it can't redirect back to the parent form in edit mode. Here is the code in the formula URL button that I currently use in the form to add a child record:var text redirect=URLRoot()&"db/"&Dbid()&"?a=er&rid="&[Record ID#]; // REDIRECT TO THE FORM IN EDITvar text url = URLRoot() & "db/" & [_DBID_PROVIDER_DETAILS] & "?a=

Greetings,I have downloaded a publicly available spreadsheet from the FDA containing their warning letters and have imported into quickbase.  It has worked well but I am stumped on how to do the following.  Under their "subject" column, they list multiple causes for the warning letter.  I have been able to convert those causes to different text columns because they are delimited with "/".  However, what I think really would like to do is to create a checklist of all causes and then associate that back to the record.  That way, I think, it will be easier for me to analyze and report the occurrence of the causes.  In case it matters, the order of the causes is not always the same. The column in question (in the form in which it is downloaded) looks like this:SubjectCGMP/QSR/Medical Devices/PMA/Adulterated/MisbrandedCGMP/QSR/Medical Devices/Adulterated/MisbrandedMedical Device Reporting/Misbranded I presume it needs some sort of formula so I have tag

Is there a way for non-admin users in Quickbase to filter a report using a formula? I have stakeholders who are looking to streamline their workflow. They need to filter down to specific, unique IDs that require changes. Instead of creating individual filters for each ID, is there a method for them to view all these IDs in a single report?
