Can Quickbase send an email notification without someone having to modify, add, or delete a record?

I have a ticketing system in quickbase and wanted to be notified when a record is over a certain duration. I have a formula duration field that counts how long a record "status" has been left "open".

If the record is not "completed/closed" after any given number of minutes, I would like to be directly notified. According to the "email alert" the record would have to be modified, added or deleted. This prompts me to this question....can an email be sent automatically without having to touch the record?

Thanks in advance

Natively no.  Not to the best of my knowledge.  QuickBase email alerts are triggered based on an action to the record.

If you wanted a daily status show those still incomplete, you can do that with a Report Subscription but from your description I can see that  will not be sufficient.

I have some situations similar in that I need email alerts based no activity to a record.  There are two methods I use based on what I need to happen.

In one situation, I use QuNect with MSAccess where QuNect gives me an ODBC connection to QuickBase.  Access queries the table in question then creates record in a separate table based on the parameters.  In your case a duration over a certain value and a certain value (or blank) in another field.  The creation of the records in the secondary table triggers the necessary.

In another situation, managers want to know what records meet a certain criteria multiple times per day.  The easy part is creating the reports in QuickBase that filter to the criteria.  What I then use is PHP that is run by a Cron Job that activates the report in send email mode, addresses and sends.

Both of these are too complex to guide you though in this forum.  If you are unfamiliar with the tool mentioned, please consider contacting one of the Solution Providers who probably have a better solution.  http://quickbase.intuit.com/partners
