I have a Company Table (Parent) and Contact Table (Child)  and I want to have the Contact Full Name ( formula field in Contact Table) show up in the Company Table as text value instead of a report link. I have tried lookup summary and it can only show # summaries. How would I make this happen. Thank you.

There is an easy technique to float up text data from a child record up to the parent.  But the complexity comes in knowing which contact record.

I will start with the easiest situation, to float up data from the first contact record - ie the one with the lowest [Record ID#]

1. on the relationship where 1 parent has many children make a Summary of the Minimum of the Record ID. call it [Record ID# of 1st Contact]

2. Make a new relationship where 1 Child has Many Parents (ie a "reverse relationship") and use that field on the right side of the relationship.

3. Look up the Contact info to the Parent.

So, if we wanted to pull in the LAST contact record on the parent, would the first step be to create a summary field on the Largest Record ID? Would there be any additional steps other than the three listed?
Yes, just as you said, you would get the highest record ID#, which was the most recently entered contact.

great, thanks!
Typically what I actually do is to have a checkbox flag field on the contacts to flag as Primary.  Then I do that summary minimum of the first flagged as primary.  Then I also summarize the first minimum contact.

ThenI have an IF to see of one was flagged, and if so use it, else just take the first one.
