Is it possible to copy a field during setup without copying the contents of that field in existing records?

For example, let's say I have a multiple-choice field that has a question for a user in the label and its values are Yes/No. If I make a copy of it, change its label, and add it to a form, the values for existing records will match the values of the field it was copied from (rather than being null or the default value).

No, you can't duplicate a field and expect its contents not to copy.  However; if you then display a report with that new field and all its data you can either use Search & Replace to empty out the data values (depending on whether they have "yes" or "no" type answers); use Grid Edit to wipe out the data; or export the data with the Record ID# or Key Field of the table; wipe out the column in Excel and then reimport the Record ID# and the Field with no data in it to empty out the records.

Or it might be just quicker to build a new field and copy the "options" into it.
