I need to create a database for our MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) which contains specific information for hundreds of chemicals.

Quickbase would be perfect for that app.  You could import the excel sheet directly into QuickBase to create the table with all its fields, and you would be off to a running start.

Before importing your spreadsheet I would create a column named Category and fill it down with the appropriate value (Antifreeze, Accelerator, Acetone, ... Sealant, Solvent). Then delete the empty rows and rows that formerly introductes the Category. Also, the last bock of information under MISCELLANEOUS probably needs to be adjusted as the columns don't agree 100% with the other entries. You will be in better shape if you clean up your data and normalize it before importing it into QuickBase.
