Is there a way to autofill from fields into a document (or email)?

I'd like to set up a form letter that auto-fills from specific fields within a table.  I plan on copy/pasting it into an email to send to individual clients.  Is this possible?

There are two solutions here.

You can make a formula text field and use a delimited of \n to indicate a line break

 for example

"Dear " & [Customer first name]

& "\n\n"

"I am pleased to report that your Project "& [Project Name] & " has been completed"

Then you can copy and paste that into Outlook or a webmail browser like gmail.

Any alternative is to make a button which will invoke your client email system (ie whatever your default email system is on that PC) and it will fill in the TO, and the Subject and the body

You can use a URL Formula to pre-populate many fields in your email message in addition to the recipient, such as the CC, BCC, Subject, and message body, like this: "mailto:"

& [To:]

& "?cc=" & [CC]

& "&bcc="

& [BCC]

& "&subject=" & urlencode([Subject])

& "&body=" & URLencode([Body])

Tips:

You need to use the string

&"%0A%0A"

 to indicate a new paragraph

and since you are building a URL you need to wrap any text fields which might have spaces or special characters in them with URLencode.

So the body might read

& "&body="

& URLEncode(

"I am pleased to report that your Project "& [Project Name] & " has been completed")

&"%0A%0A"

& urlencode("Have a Great Day!")

thank you so much!  This is a little over my head, but I'll play around with it and figure it out.  Thanks again!

Try the auto email button.  Just built it up in baby steps.  Start with just the "mailto" & "johnsmith@gmail.com" as a URL formual.  it should call up your email system and populate the to box with johnsmither@gmail.com

Then just keep adding to it, like get the Subject working next, then build up the body a piece at a time.

Mark,  I have a similar situation but  I would like to send the form from my app with its contents filled in from fields.  How do I add free text to a form and concatenate it to fields? Will be great if you could give us a few steps.
