Progressive Start Date In A Time Line Chart

In a a time line chart start and finish dates are hard coded.   If we have already delivered projects in the past and we only want to focus on what is coming up and show months/weeks ahead only, the start date has to be amended each time.  Wondering if there was a way to have a dynamic start date so that it moves with the year progressing to avoid seeing  blank columns for previous periods.  Not too sure if there is an option.

Have the start date for the report or the "Progressive" start date be:  Today()

Then your report will be a little more dynamic.
  • Another way could be to link records by using Predecessor field so that you can have a more meaningful derived date field from a previous record which is already completed or in progress....the way you will do it for a project schedule and produce a gantt chart!
  • Thanks Matt.  Unless I am not understanding, the 'starting date' in a timeline report is linked to a calendar and cannot be amended.
