October Manufacturing Qrew Meet Up Recap
Hello Manufacturing Qrew! Thank you to all who were able to attend October’s Manufacturing Qrew Meeting on 10/2/24. Here’s a quick recap of what happened: 1. Shawn Renn and Rob Mersereau, Sr. Implementation Consultants – Services, joined to do a quick review of the three manufacturing APPs that we are calling Pro Apps in the exchange. 2. To ground everyone with the difference between Pro Apps and other Apps in the exchange, Rob briefly walked through the OSHA, Shop Floor, and Site Management app to showcase the detailed tables, reports, dashboards, test data, and potential areas for customization that customers could use. Shawn Renn also shared tips as well as his excitement for being able to help customer use QBL (Quickbase. Language) and ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) to help manage applications. A huge thank you to both for joining today! 3. To get familiar or refamiliarize with these Pro Apps, we recommend checking out thisPro App Series available in Quickbase University. 4. I also showed a quick video of what it takes to implement a Pro App. You can try download it on your own and take it for a spin. However, we recommend connecting with your account team to work with folks like Shawn and Rob to get started. Their team does a great job with the discovery and planning process to determine how you can successfully implement and customize the Pro Apps to your workflows. 5. We got feedback from customers that these apps are great for inspiration and to show the art of the possible with Quickbase, but there is still a need to be rooted in the question that starts every discovery which is “What is the problem you are looking to solve?” Loved hearing this from our customers. 6. Missed the meeting? Here’s the recording and password: cby3qh^v Our next Manufacturing Qrew Meet Up is on Wednesday November 6 th at 12 PM EST. Kory Hoppes, Staff Solutions Consultant, will be working with me to come up with a great manufacturing use case and how you can use Quickbase to solve it. More details to come soon! The invitation for November’s Meet Up will be sent out early next week.October Realm Admin Qrew Meet Up Recap
Thank you all who were able to attend yesterday’s Realm Admin Qrew Meet Up. Here’s a recap of what happened: 1. Josh Miller, Customer Solutions Manager – Governance, gave the group a long-awaited update to the Governance Core Apps. After 25 downloads with customers, he was able to create asweet suite of Governance Core Apps that will give every Realm Admin a front seat to manage their apps, users, usage, and more. 2. Customers were given a very brief overview of the topic of governance and showcase the updates that were made. He mentioned that it would take about one hour to download then prop up the first iteration of the app. 3. People loved seeing how Josh used code pages to create a guided experience when downloading and implementing the governance apps. 4. A couple of customers wanted to see Replication IDs added to the fields that can be pulled in for the ACC table. Thanks to Dwight Munson for adding it to the feedback tab. Make sure you log into Quickbase to access Product Feedback first before clicking this link to upvote this in the Feedback app. 5. Missed the meeting or want to rewatch all the magic? Here’s the Recording and password: X$39UiM? 6. Special Announcement from Josh Miller: The Governance Core Apps is expected to officially available in the Exchange on Thursday October 3 rd ! (Pending a few tiny image updates) On behalf of the Qrew, we want to give a huge thank you to Josh Miller and all the customers who downloaded, tested earlier versions, and gave feedback to get this app to its current state today! As Dwight Munson said during the meeting, “Love seeing the evolution of the app.” We whole-heartedly agree! Our next meeting is on Tuesday, November 5 th . I would love to feature anyone who’s downloaded the Governance Core Apps after it has been made available to share their experience with others. Any volunteers? Ping me and let me know. Thank you and have a great afternoon.2Views0likes0CommentsSeeking Insights on Quickbase in Construction
Hi everyone, I'm currently exploring using QuickBase within the construction industry and would love to hear from those who have experience with it. Specifically, I'm looking for insights on the following: Pros and Cons: What do you find are the major advantages and disadvantages of using Quickbase in construction projects? Functional Requirements: How well does Quickbase meet your specific functional needs? Are there any gaps or challenges you’ve encountered? Technical Complexities: What technical complexities or challenges have you faced while implementing and using Quickbase? Any tips on overcoming these hurdles would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your feedback and experiences. Your insights will be invaluable as I navigate this platform! Best, Prachi ThakkarOctober 23rd Portland Qrew Meetup 3PM
The Portland Qrew is meeting on the fourth Wednesday at 3PM PST at the Harder Mechanical Contractors offices in Portland, OR. The goal for this meetup is to collaborate and solve some problems. Afterwards with the weather being pleasant, it is possible we find ourselves drinking a pint. Anyone interested in attending via Teams, please email me directly at jharrison@harder.com and I will send a Teams invitation.September Portland Qrew Meetup Notes
September Portland Qrew meeting started at 3 PM PST on a beautiful fall day. Attendees were Lee Gilmore, Jonathan Miller, Jen Clarke, Jim Harrison. Elena Larabee and a couple last minute invites Jonathan thought would benefit from the experience (KennedyM (Wyoming/Montana), Ender (Denver Co)). In the end the last minute invites didn't make it but I wanted to make note of the invitation to track how this develops. After saying our hello's and introductions, then finding there were no collaboration problems to solve, we reviewed the past months progress. Starting with Lee explaining how he is working on last minute projects, trying to finish something for a customer, and so a little distracted. Having children who attend PPS we are well aware of in-service days where there is no school and Lee was attending remotely. Lee said he will be at next months meeting if all goes to plan. Jen talked about making preparations to building out a Mobile solution. Part of the month was spent comparing Quickbase versus FastField Forms on the iPad. It sounded like the conclusion is FastField is the path forward. Licenses are purchased and they started to learn the FastField UI. The project goal is to provide field representatives with the ability to enter work orders electronically. It's exciting to hear about the development of an electronic, wireless data entry and processing system custom built to the company's specifications. The amount of design that must go into what sounds like a simple project can be overwhelming. We are looking forward to hearing what Jen discovers and are standing by ready to assist and be awed at the design ingenuity. Elena talked about efforts with trying to move data between Domains. In this example, an iFrame in a QB Dashboard that opens an O365 scheduling tool ~ sort of what Tammie was working on previously. When a User clicks the scheduler, the Scheduler page is supposed to open. Instead there is an error because of a security feature in the browser to disable cross site scripting. Aside; for a while Website builders could steer Users away from one Website and to another Website. The method eventually was used to steer Users to nefarious Websites where data loss could happen. Browser builders put a stop to Cross Site Scripting and named it CORS and the Internet moved on. We talked about the inherent problems and shared the limited understanding we have of leveraging Oauth and other security methods to solve the problem. This problem is another of those "sounds easy" until you try it challenges most developers come across regularly. When Elena comes up with a working solution, we look forward to hearing how it was solved and taking notes. Elena also started on the path to discovering Jira www.atlassian.com a project management tool and is still in the early stages of determining how it's supposed to work. Next I shared my progress in the past month. My main focus has been updating stored procedures that use QuNect to sync data between different services in the environment. As is normal with managing data synchronization, there are always requests to add another field to the sync so some other process can be built out for some reason. My method when making these changes is to review field comments, and update notes as needed or where lacking. Over time it is much easier to manage complex systems if there are bread crumbs of knowledge. Also this month we had an amazing opportunity to bring together a large group of Users at Harder and talk about how they use the systems we have built. We called it the "PRIME Improvement Team" event. The event was 3 days of talking about PRIME (our custom Quickbase solution) and listening to our Users. The event was well received by all attendees with requests for more and a lot of new work for the development team based upon the conversation. Finally I shared my experience with the new Quickbase Support Website and gave a rundown on the plus deltas. We wound down the meeting talking about Forms, new style vs old style and form rules in general. Basically with old forms it was nice to have all the fields in a list to manipulate and a pita to manage form rules. We touched on the challenges to transitioning over to new forms. The difference in performance between the old and new forms (old forms are faster). Finally we discussed working and collaborating with development teams . When working with a team of developers there is an extra layer of responsibility amongst the team to ensure all are aware of standards and what everyone is doing. Having daily standups in an open blameless environment is critical to ensuring the team is comfortable working together. It is easy to go into your cave and only come out for food and bathroom breaks. Taking time on a daily basis to share with the team engenders creativity and collaboration. Finally Jonathan Miller, who is a new Quickbase employee and first time attendee, gave some plus deltas of the meeting. He volunteered to be the note taker (thank you) and wanted to invite more Quickbase builders to the meeting. It is impressive to see the level of professionalism Jonathan brings to the table and we are looking forward to working together moving forward. Below is my BMW 1979 R65 per a request from Jonathan. Hello Pipelines Qrew! Thank you to all who were able to attend the September Pipelines Qrew Meet Up. Here’s a recap of what happened: Aksharada Acharya and Savin Kumar, Quickbase Developers from Accenture, shared two Jinja use cases: an “If” triggered conditions that sent notifications via pipelines with old and new values shown, and how a for-loop Jinja code increased the efficiency of processing and mapping child records to parent records via Pipelines. Jinja can seem very intimidating at first, but my biggest takeaway from the use case is that the payoff to learn Jinja coding language is worth the results. The best part of the meeting was seeing customers sharing resources, tips, and their experience with Jinja. Here is a list of resources that were shared that you can review and get started on. Jinja Pallets: https://jinja.palletsprojects.com/en/3.1.x/templates/#builtin-filters How to become a Jinja Ninja: QBU E-course https://j2live.ttl255.com Quickbase Junkie: Jinja videos Thank you to the Accenture team, Sean Boat-Moore, Mark Shnier, and Ben Simon for sharing these resources to the group. Want to see the 2 Jinja examples again? Here’s a copy of the recording and password: ?32Sr!sI As a reminder for October 2024: Ben Simon, Sr, Community Engagement Manager, will be hosting a special Pipelines Qrew Meet Up on Friday 10/18 at 2pm EST at Empower Pro. We will not be meeting in October at our normal cadence in favor of the Empower Pro session. Be sure to register and check out the agenda for the week. With the holidays coming up in November and December, I will be moving our Pipeline Meet Ups to the 2 nd Wednesday of the month starting in November. More details will come out soon after confirming our future agenda and speakers.8Views0likes0CommentsWomen's Qrew September Meetup

Hey! I have an idea, I want to build a Quickbase Application that is designed to operate as a Resume Builder but... with the idea of using D&D as the sort of UI. Purpose: The primary purpose of the app is to showcase professional experience, skills, and accomplishments in a unique and engaging way by using a Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) character sheet format. This approach not only highlights traditional resume information but also gamifies the experience, making it more interactive and memorable for potential employers and colleagues. Scope: The app will encompass various elements of a professional resume, translated into a D&D format, including character attributes (skills), campaigns (companies worked for), quests (projects and achievements), and other relevant experiences. It will also calculate and display character attributes (Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma) based on the user's professional experiences and skills learned during their career. The Thing is, I was thinking that maybe this could be a group project. I would be happy to lead it, and I think it would be awesome that if we all built it together, we could submit it to the exchange. Thoughts? Opinions? Side note: I would think of the process almost exactly like a D&D Campaign, We could schedule bi-monthly meetups (virtually or in person) and build over time.September Mobile Qrew Meet Up Recap
Hello Mobile Qrew! Thank you to all who were able to attend the Meet Up. Here’s a quick recap of what was discussed: Polina Georgieva, Mobile Product Manager, did a quick overview of the differences between Quickbase Mobile and FastField, and walked through the Quickbase Mobile New Forms and invited the group to join the beta and test here. The issue with data tables that prevented a lot of folks from using mobile has been addressed – great news! Adam Lanthrop, Product Manager, showcased the integration of FastField to allow Quickbase customers to trial directly FastField from their Quickbase Realm, access FastField directly from Quickbase, how to log into the FastField using Quickbase and how to access to the FastField mobile application by logging in with Quickbase SSO. He also showed the new forms AI where you can literally draw a form on a piece of paper and abracadabra! A FieldField Form was ready to go into the field! Want to see how it works? Here’s a 1-minute video! And finally, both Polina and Adam, and our Mobile Product Marketing Manager, RJ, shared what’s ahead in the mobile roadmap. They want our mobile customers to know they are listening and really appreciate your feedback in making the mobile experience better each time they release updates and new features. We want to encourage our mobile customers to keep sharing your experience – Your successes, the not so great, and your wishes – as they pave the way for more customers to continue to adopt a mobile solution to their current operational workflows. To see more about data tables, integrations ,AI Forms, and hear more about the roadmap, here’s a link to the session recording and password: xRK?dz6t Our next Mobile Qrew Meet Up will be Wednesday, November 20 th . Next month will be EmpowerPro October 15 th -18 th . Hope to see you there!9Views0likes0Comments
