Is there any option to format a field without resorting to formula field. For example I want to make my data value bold and and a box around it. What I have noticed that  to achieve  such formatting I end up creating addition formula text field.

Arshad,

You can format your text in bold natively within QuickBase by selecting that option in the text field properties:

Unfortunately the box around your text won't be possible without a formula field; and even if you were to use a formula to apply basic HTML to the text it mostly likely won't display how you'd like it.

Thanks. Intersting this is that choosing a bold option does not always work for some reason and hence the question.
Bold works on reports, but not on forms.

OK thanks. Wasn't aware of this.  may be QB should say so next to the option.
Actually, it does say that next to the option.

Yes it does thanks.  Did not notice. But would really like to have more native options to format fields.  For example I am struggling to centre a field and the support suggestion I have received is add an empty  test field before the field.  But that does not work either.
I agree with you. I do have a collection of formulas to use, but yes, they will be non numeric but pretty text fields.

Could I kindly have those?  Do you need my email address?
I will post a few tomorrow.
Here is an example which will center and underline a currency value

var number Value = Round([Option #3 - Curtailment Amount],0.01);
var text Decimals = "." & Right(ToText(Int($value * 100)),2);

var text Thousands = If($Value>=1000,ToText(Int($Value/1000)));

var text Hundreds=Right(ToText(Int($Value)),3);

var text Words =
"$" & List(",",$Thousands,$Hundreds) & $Decimals;

"<b><div style=\"border-bottom: 1px solid #000;\" align=\"center\">" & $Words & "</div>"

Thanks Mark.  Is this one statement?  Where doe it sit.  Need some hand holding.
Well you just adjust put that formula in a formula text field with html enabled and adjust that first formula variable for Value to refer to your own field.

Sorry, is this curtailment Amount the field name you used?
Yes, in my app, that was the name of my field.  You need to change it to the name of the field in your app.

Thanks Mark.  I tried and it worked to the point that it has underlined and it is bold.  But the centring could not be achieved.  Please see the attached screen shot.  The one circled is the field I added.

The field will not be centered across the page,  it will be centered within the space it occupies in the field space.
