How do I create a summary report that counts each choice once for each choice selected?

I want to create a summary report that will show an item in the row for each choice that is selected.

I have a multi-choice field called workgroups.  An item could be associated to more than one workgroup and my current summary report lists the items with more than one choice on its own row rather than counting the item towards each individual workgroup that's been selected.

Example

Ancillary is a row in the summary chart

Ancillary, Nursing, Patient Registration is another row in the summary chart

I would like the item to be counted towards each individual workgroup rather than creating it's own row in the summary chart. I realize in this case the item would actually be counted in the summary report 3 times rather than just once.

Do I need a formula field of some kind or is there a setting somewhere in the report?  Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

:( I really don't think that this is going to be possible to do unless you get into using non native scripting.  When you make a summary report or chart, each detail record gets slotted into a single total, not duplicated into multiple totals.  I think that to do this analysis, you would need to redesign your app to add child records for each Workgroup assignment to an item and then sumamarize those detail child
