I would like to be able to upload a video file on a form in quickbase and when looking at the record, have it show a thumbnail pic of the video instead of just a link to download the video.  I was able to do this with pictures, where you upload the picture file, then you create a different text/formula field to show the picture in the form.  I want to do the same thing except with Videos (just like when you scroll through youtube, you see pictures of each video and you can just click to play them).  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Or, if there is a developer you know that can do this, I am interested in talking to that person.

For every YouTube video there are four images automatically generated based on the "YouTube ID" (eg o6L6XeNdd_k). So for this insanely popular video:

Category Theory by Tom LaGatta

h t t p s : / / w w w .youtube.com/watch?v=o6L6XeNdd_k

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6L6XeNdd_k

Here are the four poster images YouTube has automatically generated:

http://img.youtube.com/vi/o6L6XeNdd_k/1.jpg

http://img.youtube.com/vi/o6L6XeNdd_k/2.jpg

http://img.youtube.com/vi/o6L6XeNdd_k/3.jpg

So however you represent the YouTube video in fields (a full url or just the YouTube ID) you can parse out the YouTube ID and build the poster image URLs using appropriate formulas.

There are probably similar schemes for the other video services.
I understood everything in the video perfectly up to the 1 hour and 26 minute point where he lost me in "syntactic sugar".  Fascinating.  (actually not)

You are going to miss out on all the great innovations coming in 2016 as my fellow Categorists and I transform what can be done with Quickbase using Category Theory. Start reading up:
