What is the difference between a URL formula and a normal quickBase formula?

So I want to add buttons to a form that triggers workflow based on 2 status fields.  So when a button is pushed, the job status is updated and so forth.  Only certain buttons will be visible based on the status and user.

I was working through the Magic buttons app and got slightly confused

My question is:  what is the difference between creating the formula - URL button  and creating the formula with a formula - text button?

I don't know which path to take here?

Use a formula URL button.

Some actions can also be done by enhancing a URL formula button to turn it into a text formula button to have it display as an image or formatted words, but that is really just icing on the cake which adds more complexity.

To bake your cake, use URL formula buttons and worry about the icing later.
