How to capture date field from details table in one app to populate date field in master table in another app?

I have several apps that track files for different projects, but for all projects we order abstracts for each file. So I've created a table in one central app to track abstract orders from all the other apps in order to consolidate ordering and billing. I've created a relationship between the files table in each project app (as the master table) and I created an abstract orders table in the central app (as the details table). I need to somehow push the date fields for when an abstract is ordered and when it is completed in the abstract orders table from the central app into the project apps in order to prompt status changes and track turnaround time. I can't use a snapshot field because the details table is not in the same app so the option doesn't appear; I've tried using form rules but because the project apps contain the master tables, I can only use summary fields from the central app and I can't get the rules to fire when needed (they either don't change until the next save or they keep changing every save). Any help would be really really appreciated!

Hey AJ,

What you're describing sounds like it should be possible by using a summary field (without a form rule), but specifically how that would be set up would depend on how your two apps are set up. If you go to Help > Manage Support Cases > + New Support Case, one of our customer care specialists can take a look at the apps with you to figure this out.
